Memphis Rain - the Country/Rock Duo consisting of singer/songwriter Barby Collins on lead vocals, with husband guitarist/songwriter/producer E.G. Collins, have been in the trenches of show business for several years, knocking out audiences with their rich harmonies, powerful self written songs, as well as doing their own renditions of songs from Stevie Nicks to Pat Benatar, and with the aggressive guitar works of E.G. Collins, Barby's deep lush vocals truly deliver the goods.
Of course, for years Barby Collins had been performing in countless stage musicals, from Rock to Country groups, with a longing for something more, which was to study the art of songwriting much more closely, and to create music and lyrics that are truly passionate, with substance of melody, not just 2-chord boredom. On that mark arrived session guitarist Eddie Collins, or E.G. Collins as he is known, who shared the same passion, and together they shared the same influences like Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Vince Gill, Don Henley, Brooks & Dunn, Sugarland, Bon Jovi, among others.
Barby & E.G. Collins have always called Niagara Falls, Canada home but not for too much longer - it will be no surprise to see Memphis Rain become a fixture in Nashville, Tennessee's music scene. "We love this business far too much," says E.G. Collins. "To write emotion and lyric that people out there love hearing us perform is the most rewarding thing in the world, especially when people are singing the words to our songs along with us, I mean, that's just too much....what could be more fulfilling....it's just fantastic!"
So it's really no surprise - with a new CD out, and another hanging on the wall at Niagara's Hard Rock Cafe in honour of all their shows performed there, it's off to Music City, and then beyond. Memphis Rain's new album, '12 Hours To Midnight', is now available online at CD Baby .
